Video Of Day: Garth Snow curses during TSN interview

Today’s Video Of Day feature is an obvious one. Highlighting the first round, Islanders general manager Garth Snow was interviewed by TSN’s James Duthie regarding trading back into the first round with the Lightning to select Josh Ho-Sang. Asked about Ho-Sang’s character, Snow said:

“He’ll fit right in. “They shit all over me too.”

He wasn’t done. Following the interview, he reiterated it by again referencing that he couldn’t give a [expletive] what the media thinks about who they pick as long as they help improve the Islanders. It doesn’t get anymore pointed than that.

Yeah I found this too…to an extent I feel bad for him cause he does try almost to a fault (bringing in guys like Nabokov, Vishnevski, Boyle, Vanek and trying to acclimate them). Ironically they haven’t done very well at the draft though in recent years, hence some of the criticism he gets.

And Halak turned out to be a good move too (at least on paper) since he was receptive to staying. Ironically it looks like the Sabres were also trying to trade up for his kid. I don’t really know much about him but it sounded like he was one of those top ten talent who’s a bit of a nutball.

Their record is a mixed bag. Guys like Bailey and to an extent Grabner even though he wasn’t their pick should be better. Okposo finally had his breakthrough teaming with Tavares. Nielsen has developed into a dependable secondary scoring center. Though probably better suited for a 3C especially if Strome becomes that 2C.

On D, they cashed in on MacDonald retrieving picks from the Flyers. Hamonic is steady and de Haan opened some eyes. Maybe all those picks were worth it. He definitely has some upside. I am still not sold on their goaltending after Halak. Unless Nilsson or Poulin or even Koskinen develop, the backup is still a question mark. Halak has never really been a true No.1 except one year. Kinda similar to Schneider, who has all the pressure to earn an extension.

I read some more on Ho-Sang. It’s pretty much split. Either they love or hate him. If you saw the clips, he’s definitely got high skill. It’s just a question of character. Boom or bust. It depends on if he matures.
