So add a point to the Habs, they now take back 7th place.
Forsberg fell in the shootout. Haw Haw.

Derek, you can complain about nothing. Even when they gave us the advantage, we failed. There are no excuses. They lost in the shootout, there are no excuses for the Rangers, they blew it. Absolutely blew it.
Another thing I noticed is that the Daniel Girardi love affair must end, he was putrid tonight.
That Parise kid’s got a future eh?
Anyway…
AROUND THE NHL
Buffalo 6, Ottawa 5 (SO) – MMM…Goaltender-leaving-crease-coaches yelling at eachother-allout-fucking-brawl…*foams at the mouth*…rematch Saturday? *Passes Out* Ottawa falls 1 behind Pittsburgh after getting only one point.
Isles 3, Toronto 2 (SO) – Didn’t see much after NYI went down 3-2 but wow, another comeback. Icelanders are now in a tie for 9th with Montreal, losing 6-5 in the 3rd to Nashville. Where did Hockey come from people!??!? Trent Hunter, one of my favorite Isles, gets two.
Carolina 3, Philly 2 (OT) – Glenn Wesley nabs the sudden victory 16 secs into the 4th. Carolina now sole possesion of 8th unless MTL turns it around
Tampa 5, Atlanta 4 (OT) – St. Louis with the winner here. Tampa has a 1-pt lead on ATL for the Southeast lead.
Pittsburgh 2, Florida 1 (OT) – Colby Armstrong gets an OT winner. Penguins keep pace with NJ. Another freakin assist for Crosby.
And Montreal ties it with 48 seconds to go! They will most certainly get a point, and screw up this whole thing. Thanks Samsonov. Foppa somehow manages to come out of this one pointless again!
Regardless of OT, your 6 -12 standings:
6. ATL – 72 (19 GR)
7. MTL -69 (19 GR)
8. CAR – 69 (19 GR)
——————–
9. NYI – 68 (21 GR)
10. TOR – 67 (21 GR)
11. NYR – 64 (21 GR)
12. BOS – 62 (23 GR)
BOSTON TAMPA TOMORROW!
Not just in NHL circles, but in sports circles. There is a buzz about this one. With no Knicks or Nets, and A-Rod and Jeter being quiet the past 24 hrs., maybe, just maybe? We get a backpage?
That’s of course, if we live up to the hype. But if any sport is up for the challenge, we sure are.
This may be the game of the year for Devs and Rangers fans.
Boston is not in action tonight. Isles-Leafs is a much bigger game standings wise. I wish the blue and orange well. Let me be the first to say, I would LOVE Devils-Isles in round 1, based on past performance.
Bruins play the Bolts tomorrow, by the way. Devils and Rangers get MSG and FSN, Isles on FSN2. For those interested parties, Ottawa-Buffalo is on Comcast.net, While Yahoo.com has Wild-Avs.
A LOT of big hockey games being played tonight.
Devils-Rangers
Isles-Leafs
Sabres-Sens
Flyers-Canes
Lightning-Thrashers
Habs-Preds
All of those games have an impact on the races.
As you know, the anticipated rematch between the Devils and Rangers takes place tonight at MSG. It will in all likelihood be the final match-up of the season. So expect some fireworks. Especially coming off Tuesday night. The Islanders are also in action in a pivotal playoff match against the Maple Leafs at The Coliseum. Both teams enter tied for ninth with 66 points, one behind eighth seeded Carolina. I think the Bruins are also playing. They’ve suddenly reeled off three straight and at 62 points, are not that far back plus have games at hand. Keep an eye on them.
Here is last night’s NY Hockey Report show archive which featured a fun interview with Sportsfan Mag’s own Greg Wyshynski:
Hope ya’ll check it out and thank you for the continued support of the show!
I’d like to thank my cohost and partner Gary Harding for doing a solid job as always. And of course Greg Wyshynski for taking time out of his busy schedule to discuss puck with us during a fun 2nd seg. Sorry about the conclusion of that interview. I am still overcoming a bit of a cold. It probably was easy to pickup.
We’ll provide the archive sometime tomorrow.
Listen to it folks. Segment with Greg was good. It’s great to hear three of your favorite hockey writers sound off on the issues. There’s still time to listen, so click the link in the post below.
Afterwards, check out Chicago and Detroit on Comcast.net
I guess it all depends how you view it and what angle you’re taking. I don’t think what he said there or in today’s papers was out of place. How Brodeur doesn’t get a roughing call there is beyond me. But that’s the breaks. I’m not going to complain because it’s over and done with. Plus you know where I stand on this issue anyway. Regardless, it didn’t affect the outcome.
Don’t forget to tune into tonight’s NY Hockey Report. It should be a good one. Sportsfan’s own Greg Wyshynski will join us during the second segment.

I’ll provide a link if this doesn’t work when we’re on air.
Doesn’t that quote kind of look like Avery whining about Marty whining?
Everybody’s gotta work the refs, buddy.
This was taken from an MSG interview during first intermission of tonight’s heated battle:
“Marty’s a whiner. Marty’s a big whiner. I’m going to be in his face all night.“
Slice it anyway you want. While he’s no choir boy, the always controversial Sean has a point. Brodeur has always been in officials’ ears about any player that comes anywhere near his crease. Sometimes, it’s legit and other instances, it isn’t. My take on this is that in order to score goals especially against him, attacking players have to go to the net and try screening him. If that means getting dirty, so be it. That’s always a heated battle which is played between the lines. When his club tied it, Avery won that battle. When he got penalized, he lost even though he sent a message to the goalie that he’s not above the law.
Marty’s one of the all-time best. But he does do an awful lot of complaining to try to get calls on his side. At least now, he knows he doesn’t have a free ride against our former all perimeter squad.
This should also only intensify the rematch and final meeting of the season this Thursday at MSG. Fireworks, anyone?
I think most games at MSG between the teams are pretty good still and the atmosphere is great. I’ll take an MSG game anyday over CAA. Thank god there are no more games there. Btw…my offer stands for any rival fan. Come up to Sec. 411 to have a drink between intermission on the concourse.
Fyi…don’t forget to tune into the NY Hockey Report for a special show with guest Greg Wyshynski tomorrow night!
See ya’ll there.
